Neither team were particularly sharp in attack, missing a number of key chances. The closest of which came from M. Destro's shot that rang off the far post in the 90th minute. All in all both teams will be happy to escape with an early point.

Southampton and Watford kicked off their season with a 1-1 draw to share the spoils. The Saints started off the game strong by dominating the early possession and putting Heurelho Gomes under pressure, but the Brazilian keeper prevented his side from conceding and keeping the score level. In the 25th minute, the Saints made a crucial error by turning the ball over in midfield, which lead to an instant counter where Behrami slipped a ball through to a sprinting Ighalo who beat Fraser Forster near post. Despite the mistake, the Saints remained calm and drew level two minutes later as Shane Long was able to create some space outside the 18 and find Nathan Redmond for a header in the center, just outside the 6 yard box, to draw level. Both defenses tightened up from this point on and the two English clubs had to settle for a point each. Gg rschwep

Eduardo Vargas poached a headed goal from a corner kick just before halftime, and that's all Hoffenheim would need to secure their first 3 points of the season. The Turkish side held a significant edge in possession throughout the match and almost came away with a goal or two of their own if not for the woodwork. Galatasaray had a flurry of corners late in the match, but could not find an equalizer and Hoffenheim escape with the full allotment of points.

The Saints earn first win of the season with 2-0 victory over Galatasaray
Southampton played a near perfect game to earn their first 3 points of the new campaign. Dusan Tadić was the man to break the deadlock in the 14th minute with a spectacular left-footed shot that nutmegged Nigel de Jong and beat Fernando Muslera into the top-right corner. Nathan Redmond added a second goal for Southampton late to seal the victory. The defensive effort impressed Seals the most as his team limited the opposition to zero shots the entire game. Seals hopes Southampton can carry this momentum into the team's upcoming fixtures. Gg Broncos218

Manager shiftee's return to the top flight of TSL got off to a good start as OGC Nice begins the season with a 2-0 win over Bologna. Koziello opened up the scoring 12 minutes in to give the French side the early lead. After that quick start though, both teams seemed to focus on playing better defense as neither team were able to generate much. With time becoming a factor, Bologna began to press for the equalizer, and OGC Nice was able to capitalize on a counter late, as Balotelli beat his man and slotted the ball behind the diving keeper to put the game away.

Hoffenheim defended well in the final third and earned a point against Southampton. Shane Long had the best chance of the match late in the 2nd half, but his shot was inches wide of the far post.

Was an even back and forth game until a screamer from outside the box by LB David Simon broke the deadlock. Las Palmas was able to play a little more loosely in the second half and got a second goal off some nice team passing that ended with a Nabil El Zhar cross finding Sergio Araujo's head for a sitter. Gala didn't go down easy though and provided plenty of scares for the defense in the last 30 minutes of the match.

A shot off the post in the 3rd minute by Hoffenheim was the most lively moment in this one. Both teams were passing the ball around but neither could get many quality opportunities. Hats off to both defenses in this one- keepers as well the few times they were called upon.
